The idea for the Inspiring Volunteer Team emerged in 2012 from a group of young people who had experienced the Syrian tragedy firsthand and felt its bitterness.
They wanted to be a source of hope for ending it, having themselves been its victims.
It began in a single camp with a few volunteers, but as the number of internally and externally displaced people multiplied and they spread across the globe, the scope of the need expanded, and with it, the team’s work. Its members extended their efforts to provide refugees with basic necessities such as food, medicine, and shelter, wherever they might be.
Then the sun of freedom rose, and the land returned to its people, who returned to it burdened with longing and exhaustion. We, in turn, shared some of their pain and facilitated their return by repairing homes, settling debts, and providing for their needs.
Today, the Volunteer Team includes more than 450 male and female volunteers, and about 150 male and female employees. It is proud to crown its journey in the field of humanitarian work by establishing an organization bearing its name, based in Damascus, with a legal license and offices in America, Germany and Sweden. Through it, it seeks to frame its humanitarian work within an institutional framework, thereby enhancing the confidence of its donors and supporters around the world, and developing its charitable work according to global standards.
